The story behind urll.io

Less link.
More signal.

urll.io makes the small moment of sharing a link feel considered: shorter, clearer, and ready for what happens next.

01

Who

urll.io is an independent project built by Prashant Gupta, a computer science student who enjoys turning ideas into things people can actually use.

02

What

urll.io is a URL shortener that lets you create, manage, and track shorter links, with features like analytics, QR codes, custom aliases, and link expiration.

03

Why

Because sharing a link should be simple. A useful link should be easy to remember, easy to share, and give you enough control to know what happens after you share it.

The idea behind urll.io

Who's behind it

Built by Prashant.

urll.io started as a project to understand how URL shorteners actually work beyond generating a shorter link.

What started as a simple idea gradually turned into a full-stack application. Building it meant working through backend APIs, database design, authentication, redirects, analytics, link expiry, QR generation, deployment, and all the small problems that don't show up in a project diagram.

The goal was never to build the biggest URL shortener. It was to build something useful, learn from the process, and keep improving it along the way.

Built with curiosity. Improved through real use.
